Dear Bugeye Lures,
I recently went on a fishing trip at Lake Roosevelt, and would have to say your lures are one of the best I have ever used. My friends and I caught loads of fish on them including the largest kokanee of my life. I have caught them weighing in at one and two pounds before, but never one reaching four and a half before.
One of my buddies tried a different brand and got some hits but couldn’t get the hooks set, were yours were always willing to bite right in. I was even out catching him with a hook that was mangled from my big koke I got. After a while he restrung his lure on your hooks, and was able to get fish. However, it didn’t match your lures for productivity.
We even had other boats following us around not getting a thing. Which had us laughing. On our last day of the trip we thought of trying our hands at some walleye once again with your lures and brought limits for each of us to the boat. One guy was so upset he was saying things to us that I should not pass on here.
Thanks for the great lures!

P.S. Looking forward to new lures and keep up the great work.
Dear Guy and Edie,
First of all, it’s not uncommon for me to raise issues about today’s ever increasing ‘Customer No-Service’ that so many Companies seem to subscribe to nowadays, but on the same hand, I will be the first to sing from the highest hills when someone, or something, delivers better than expected. And Guy at Bug Eye Lures is a great example of the latter!
Background info… I fish primarily for larger Trout, Silvers and Walleyes and over the years have found a few lures that I make that perform fairly decent most of the time. But as we know, there are times that the ol’ reliables just don’t perform as expected, so we try something new.
Recently, I took a couple of friends of mine over to Lake Roosevelt for their first time, to put them on some of the beautiful Silvers or native Rainbows that ply this gorgeous reservoir. Neither of them had ever been to the area and I fish there quite a bit as well as lived in the area for several years, and usually can dial them in pretty well. The fishing was wonderful, but the catching was less than stellar. After the first day, we had several missed take downs and I was bound and determined to try to get them into some fish the following day. Not only was it going to be our last day, but the gloomy forecast made it clear we would be lucky if we got a ½ day at that! (No pressure lol) That evening I called a local friend of mine, named Lou. He said meet me at my store at 7am, and I’ll show you a lure I just started selling. Fishing has been pretty slow recently, but it’s been doing pretty good for the Rainbows and a few Silvers. Lou went on to say that the guy who makes them up, “Keeps sending me pictures of gorgeous kokanee he keeps catching with them!”
The next morning I was grinning ear to ear and feeling as though I was on the brink of unlocking some magical powers using my Secret Decoder Ring. We showed up at 7am the next morning and not a minute later! Keeping the introductions brief, we followed Lou over to the ‘Magic Rack!’…after all, in a tackle shop, aren’t ALL racks magic!!
Lou turned around and handed me a couple of spinners. I immediately recognized these as Bug Eye Lures proudly sponsored on our Kokanee Forum. Lou said here…give these a try and let me know how they work. So I purchased a couple of them (K-02 and K-04) and off we went.
Here’s the skinny…there were a total of 4 different boats in the area we were fishing, with a total of 10 rods in the water. After 2 hours of fishing, we were the first and last to land fish. Out of the 6 fish we saw caught, 4 of them were landed on our deck thanks to the Bug Eye Lures we purchased from our tackle shop. These were beautiful native Rainbows averaging over 2 pounds! I used the K-02, and between the several strikes and 2 fish it landed…it just got hammered! Lol My other buddy used the K-04 and saw nearly the same action on his too. My 3rd friend was using a Kokanee Killer and had slightly less activity, but managed to bring a nice one to the deck as well.
Needless to say, we all had a blast and great memories were made by all. All fish were between 1.5-2.5 lbs and hit like freight trains! Thanks Guy for offering top quality components that are matched extremely well and produce results in the toughest of conditions. I have a very few select lures that I have complete confidence in…and I just added another one to the short list!
Sincerely,
Steve F.
